I’m Ayana, a Vtuber!
Today, I will explain how to duplicate/join object and create instance.
To duplicate an object, select the object you want to duplicate and select “Duplicate Object” from the Object button.
Once the object is duplicated, press the Y key on your keyboard to place it on the Y-axis.
Duplicate Linked Objects
Next, I will duplicate the linked object.
To duplicate a linked object, select the object you want to duplicate and select Duplicate Linked from the Object button.
Once the object is duplicated, press the Y key on your keyboard to place it on the same Y axis.
Switch to edit mode and try editing the source object. When you transform an object with the Extrude tool, the associated objects will also be transformed as well. Also, unlinked objects are unchanged.
Break the link
To break the link, select “Relations”, choose “Make Single User” – “Object” from the object button.
Next, let’s join the objects!
Select multiple objects and select “Join” from the object button.
Note that the center of the pivot point is set to the last selected object at this time.
When objects are joined, in Object Mode, if we move, rotate, or zoom in and out of this Object, the other Object will also be manipulated.
Also note that transforming one of the merged objects in edit mode will not change the other objects.
Create an instance
You can also create an instance with the same function as linking objects.
First, prepare only one Cube object in the collection like this.
Right-click on the collection and select Instance to Scene from the menu.
An instance was created in the scene like this.
Move the created instance on the Y axis for easy viewing.
In edit mode, if you select the original object and transform it, the instance created will also be transformed.
This is the end of the lecture how to duplicate /join object and create instance!
